ya pulingina/Welcome
Welcome to the St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School website. I invite you to tour our website to discover the many elements that combine to make our school a vibrant, contemporary learning community. You will gain an insight into what we do and how we work with our students to continually develop their knowledge, experiences and understanding of our world.
At St Anthony’s there is a warm, family-friendly environment. We challenge our students to develop to their fullest potential in a challenging, stimulating, secure atmosphere, in the care of a very dedicated and highly professional staff.
Founded originally by the Presentation Sisters and then imbued with Franciscan spirituality through the stewardship of their order, we continue to strive to live out their charism and ethos in the context of the world our students are living in. This philosophy which is the foundation of all our policies and programs, providing students with opportunities to develop spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically and academically.
St Anthony’s is unique in having 3 Patron Saints - Anthony, Francis and Clare - to guide our students to become excellent scholars, develop a sense of responsibility for the natural environment and to care for those in need.
Set on over 10 acres of lush green fields overlooking the kanamaluka/Tamar River, students enjoy the comforts of modern facilities (built 2002) and 21st century technology in generous learning spaces and spacious playing grounds catering for all student interests.
We are establishing a deep connection with the land and deep relationships with local community elders who have contributed to our knowledge and have shared their stories with us - and us with them. We beleive that the path to reconciliation lies in listening. We are committed to learning alongside th children that we teach and the community that we are part of to support the continued sharing of knowledge and Culture.
Academically we follow the Australian Curriculum, an extensive and inclusive learning program is offered through evidence based, high impact teaching practices and the latest research into the Science of Learning. Further development opportunities include student leadership, extension learning activities, learning support, daily P.E., swim programs, inter-school sport, camps, sustainable living garden programs and specialist subjects of Music, Band, Choir, Physical Education and LOTE. Information Technology plays a significant part throughout all of the teaching and learning, and will continue to do so, ensuring all students can engage and access the curriculum with success.
Partnerships are encouraged between teachers, staff, students, families and the wider community to challenge and scaffold learning. The school is further enriched by a committed parent body, and is strongly supported by our dedicated Parish Priest, Fr Martin Aye Ngwe.
St Anthony’s is recognised as a place of quality teaching and learning, with a strong family-community spirit, providing an innovative and rigorous learning program that prepares our students for life long learning. Feel free to further explore St Anthony’s via this website or alternatively phone the school for more information or a personal tour.
